About the Home Loan EMI Calculator

Calculate the monthly EMI, total interest, and full amortization schedule for a home loan, model a one-time prepayment to see the effect on tenure and interest, and export the complete monthly schedule as CSV.

How the result is produced

The EMI uses the reducing-balance formula `E = P × r × (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n - 1)`, where `P` is principal, `r` is monthly interest, and `n` is the number of months. Optional prepayments rebuild the remaining schedule.

Example: Enter a ₹50 lakh loan, annual rate, and tenure to compare the monthly EMI, total interest, and cumulative principal-versus-interest schedule.

Limitations and review notes

The estimate does not include lender fees, insurance, floating-rate resets, penalties, rounding rules, or every prepayment policy. Confirm the repayment schedule and terms with the lender.

How to use it

  1. 1. Enter the loan amount, interest rate, and tenure.
  2. 2. Optionally enable a one-time prepayment with the month and amount.
  3. 3. Review EMI, total interest, and the cumulative principal/interest chart.
  4. 4. Expand a year in the amortization table for monthly detail, or download the full CSV.

FAQ

How is the EMI calculated?

Using the standard reducing-balance EMI formula based on loan amount, annual interest rate, and tenure in months.

How does the one-time prepayment work?

A lump-sum prepayment is applied in the month you choose, reducing the outstanding principal. The EMI stays the same, so the loan tenure shortens and total interest drops.

Can I download the full amortization schedule?

Yes. Download the complete month-by-month schedule as a CSV file from the amortization table.
