About the YAML JSON Converter

Convert configuration snippets, API examples, and frontmatter-like data between YAML and JSON. The converter uses js-yaml in the browser, reports helpful parse locations for malformed YAML, and lets you copy or download clean output.

How the result is produced

The browser-side YAML parser reads mappings, sequences, scalars, and common YAML syntax before serializing the result as formatted JSON or YAML. Parser errors are shown without a server request.

Example: A deployment snippet with `replicas`, `image`, and environment variables can be converted to JSON for an API payload or back to YAML for a manifest.

Limitations and review notes

Conversion is not schema validation and cannot confirm that a platform accepts the resulting structure. YAML features such as anchors, implicit types, tags, and duplicate keys may require review after conversion.

How to use it

  1. 1. Choose YAML to JSON or JSON to YAML.
  2. 2. Paste your configuration, payload, or example data.
  3. 3. Fix any parser errors shown with line and column context.
  4. 4. Copy or download the converted output.

FAQ

Does YAML or JSON conversion upload my config?

No. Conversion and parsing run locally in the browser after the page loads.

Can it show YAML error locations?

Yes. YAML parser errors include line and column information when js-yaml reports a mark.

Can I download the converted file?

Yes. Download JSON output as .json or YAML output as .yaml from the result pane.
